We're
All
Ministers!
Here at Rustic Hills we believe that we are all ministers.
No, that doesn't mean every Christian is expected to be a
pastor or missionary, but it is our belief that God expects
every believer to be a Minister!
The word "minister" simply means "servant" and we believe it is God's intention that every person who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ, be involved in God's plan and purposes.
Unlike many churches, we have no intention of becoming a spectator church. One of our main goals is to help every believer discover his/her spiritual gift for ministry and to find their place of service for Christ.
Being a real minister is a key part of experiencing the abundant life that God has for us. The design of being
a minister at Rustic Hills Community Church is what we believe should be the normal level of commitment for any Christian in any healthy church. Being a minister involves five (5) key components:
1) Evidence of a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ: Membership in God's church doesn't
come by "joining" a church, it comes through salvation (Acts 2:47). We enter into membership
by entering into a relationship of faith through Jesus Christ.
2) Regular attendance in the large group gatherings of the church family: Christianity is a
group experience. We need each other. It is impossible to live out the real life of abundance that
God intends all by ourselves (Hebrew 10:25).
3) Involvement in a small group gathering: The discipling, teaching, encouraging and fellowship
needs of any Christian are met in the smaller gatherings of believers as they relate to one
another in ongoing relationships. This is why CLUSTERS is so important. (For Scripture
references, see all of the "one another's" of the New Testament)
The New Testament says that the early Christians met daily in the temple courts
(large group) and house to house (small group) (Acts 2:46, Acts 5:42, Acts 20:20).
We need both kinds of activities to grow in our faith.
4) Financially support the ministry of Rustic Hills: Jesus said, "Where your treasure is,
there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21). Tithing is the beginning point of Christian
giving. (Malachi 3:10)
5) Have a clearly identifiable ministry: The Holy Spirit has gifted each and every believer
with a special gift for ministry. One of our main goals is to help each believer find his/her
spiritual gift and then become part of some practical, ongoing ministry. (1 Peter 4:10,
Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 12:7)
